Spring Over For Group One Stars

3 minute read

Group One stars Osborne Bulls and Prince Fawaz have been ruled out of the spring with both horses to be spelled.

Godolphin trainer James Cummings has advised Racing NSW stewards of his decision to spell Everest contender Osborne Bulls following his disappointing return to racing in the Premiere Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Osborne Bulls was found to be lame after the race and Cummings said the sprinter's fitness remained an issue on Monday.

Cummings reported that Osborne Bulls continued to display lameness in the off fore leg resulting in his decision to spell the gelding.

Godolphin is yet to select its slot runner in the $13 million Everest at Randwick on Saturday week. The slot is expected to be filled by either Alizee or Bivouac.

Prince Fawaz's trainer Anthony Cummings also advised stewards that Prince Fawaz has been spelled and will not race for the remainder of the spring.

The winner of the G1 JJ Atkins in Brisbane in June had raced twice this season at Rosehill, leaving Cummings unsatisfied with his form after he finished unplaced in the G2 Run To The Rose and G1 Golden Rose.

Cummings did not elaborate on any fitness issues with Prince Fawaz.
