2019 Silver Eagle: It was inevitable for The Inevitable

3 minute read

Tasmania got the big result as The Inevitable won the 2019 Silver Eagle at Randwick on Saturday.

With the win, The Inevitable made it through to the Golden Eagle along with Fasika and Mizzy.

Winning Trainer: Scott Brunton

On the horse: "He's done a great job to get the job done. Great ride. There are a lot of people I have got to thank. All the staff at home foro putting up with me."

On the nerves: "I've worn the tread down to the stalls. Teagen did not want to speak to me before the race to say the wrong thing."

"I spent the first 12 months of having him in my life whinging about him. He's just a phenomenal racehorse, with a great will to win. He's a great walker, great mover. Just shows you it doesn't matter what shape or size they come in. If they move right and look well they can run."

On coming to Sydney: "Well I knew we could come to Sydney about 3 minutes ago. He's got a lot of water to go under the bridge. There are some serious race horses next run. I'm very grateful to be there and a part of it if he pulls up well."

On going forward: "I will travel back and forth. His real trainer is my partner. She will be with him and do the rest. I worked with Grahame Begg when I was a kid and he gave me a good grounding and understanding around the place. It's changed a lot. It's a long way from Devonport racecourse."

Winning Jockey: Nash Rawiller

On the horse: "He's a fighter, my word he's a little tiger. For his size, his stride is twice as long as you expect it to be. He just covers the ground."

On his riding: "At this time of the year you're riding a few two-year-olds so it would have stood me in good stead. He's a very competitive horse too. He worked himself into a bit of trouble early trying to get on with it.

On the win: "Congratulations to Scott and his team for coming up and having a crack. He's a chance for sure, his heart will take him a long way."

Beaten Jockeys:

Glyn Schofield (Zousain): "We followed the winner everywhere, he just didn't have a finish at all."

Jay Ford (Sesar): "I think he has come to the end of his prep. He didn't have much to offer today."

Josh Parr (Military Zone): "Nice effort. I ended up in a comfortable spot. The speed was strong though and it may well of just taken away some of his dash away from him."

Jason Collett (Behemoth): "Good run. The start was costly but finished off well."

Glen Boss (Jonker): "He would make a nice gelding."

Brenton Avdulla (Kapajack): "He ran good. I was sitting on the winner's back on the point of the corner, he just ran out of puff though."

Robbie Dolan (Legend Of Condor): "Just a bit tough for him. He is probably a six furlong horse as well."

Martin Harley (Buffalo River): "Disappointing really. We had to use up a bit of energy early. When he parked up in second he was breathing good and relaxing good. I knew though he wasn't going to give me anything off the final bend so I don't know, maybe we can draw a line through it."

Tim Clark (Mizzy): "She ran great. She began well and I got my spot in behind the leaders. She travelled great, ran accordingly and is doing a good job this time in."

Rachel King (Fasika): "Huge run. We had to pop off the back of Mizzy there who wasn't taking us into the race when I wanted to. She's run a really good race and is ready for two weeks time."

Andrew Adkins (Madam Rouge): "Really good run. She settled nicely on a good tempo. She got through and hit the line really strong. She's come back in really good order."

After scoring three wins from four starts in Melbourne, the Tasmanian visitor The Inevitable brought his trade to Sydney and continued on his winning way, now with eight victories (four stakes) in ten career starts. He was given a good trip by Nash Rawiller racing in seventh place before tacking up nicely rounding the home turn. He then finished too well to score a very smart win. Consistent and talented mare Fasika raced in fifth place, one off the rails. She improved nicely at the home turn, dashed to the front at the 200m but could not hold off the late-closing winner to finish (half neck) second. Mizzy attempted to find a contested lead before easing. She then had a good trip in fourth place, improved at the home turn and then fought well for third while Madam Rouge was handy on the rails and fought on well for (2.1 lengths) fourth.
