The Japanese-bred gelding Wolfe took his record to six wins from 10 starts in recording his first stakes success here. He was smartly away and soon crossed to the front and then eased to track a new leader (Nelson) before moving up to that horse approaching the 600m. He went to front rounding the home turn and then dug deep when challenged to score a narrow but good win. It was also a good ride by Linda Meech. Top Of The Range settled just beyond midfield but trapped three wide. He improved from the 600m (still deep), challenged on straightening and then fought gamely for (long head) second. Kiwia raced in second last place in the 11-horse field, tracked up (wide) from the 600m, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting on well for third, just in front of Sin To Win who finished fourth after being handy all the way.
