The $5 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate on October 26 at The Valley takes on an extra dimension this year with eight contenders eligible for the $1m bonus on offer through the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost promotion.
In addition to the eight horses that remain in the 3rd acceptances for 'The Race Where Legends Are Made', connections of Black Heart Bart are pondering the option to pay a late entry fee of $200,000 to activate his Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost Bonus.
Should a horse that is eligible for the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost win the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate, they would collect $4m in prizemoney.
"The MVRC was thrilled to partner with Racing Victoria and Ladbrokes to launch the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost promotion," said MVRC CEO Michael Browell.

"The races that form the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost Series are not ballot exempt races and each eligible participant will be considered on their merits as we determine the composition of the final field of 14 runners plus emergencies for the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate".
"The MVRC Committee will be required to exercise its discretion in selecting the final field at the Breakfast with the Best Barrier Draw next Tuesday morning."
The Ladbrokes Cox Plate Boost promotion also extends to the best three-year-olds who contested the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas or Thousand Guineas as well as the respective Prelude, or the Group 2 Stutt Stakes at The Valley with a bonus of $1m awarded if they were to win the 2019 Ladbrokes Cox Plate. Only three horses remain eligible for the 3YO Boost, which includes Dalasan, Yourdeel and Thousand Guineas winner Flit.
The above announcement complements the Ladbrokes Cox Plate International Series Bonus, which sees Japanese mare Lys Gracieux eligible to take out the $2m bonus after winning the Group 1 Takaruzuka Kinen at Hanshin Racecourse in June. Lys Gracieux has settled in well at Werribee Quarantine Centre and will gallop on Wednesday morning at The Valley.
