2019 TRISTARC STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Pace from 3, 6, 9, 10. Should be pressure for positions early. POHUTUKAWA (7) was okay fresh before improving nicely second up in the Blazer. Couldn't reel in the leader there but the pace of the race made that task a tough one. Closed strongly and ready to perform at her top now.

BACCARAT BABY (8) beat nice horses first up in Brisbane without having to be at her very best. Leaves her with plenty more to offer coming here second up. She's a big threat. SAVATIANO (6) will be fitter second up and can run well.

SPANISH WHISPER (3) was ordinary in the Blazer but her win prior says she's good enough. Could bounce back. INVINCIBELLA (1) will be fitter and has all the right formlines to figure. Respect.

Form Preview

The Godolphin-raced mare Savatiano was most impressive in winning here. Having her second run back she went forward from her wide barrier (14) and settled nicely outside the leader (Teleplay), travelling at a reasonable tempo. She went to the front turning for home, dashed clear at the 200m and then drew away to score easily. Angelic Ruler raced towards the tail of the field, went deep at the home turn and made good ground to finish second. Spanish Wonder settled midfield, switched wider rounding the home turn and then ran on nicely for third. The favourite Pohutukawa settled near last and wide with cover but was held up behind runners on straightening. She switched deeper halfway down the straight and then made good late ground for (3 lengths) fourth. Invincibella had a good trip, being handily placed on the rails and she kept battling on quite well under her top weight (59kg) over the latter stages for (3.1 lengths) fifth.
