2019 GEELONG CUP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

A number can race handy and expect an okay tempo. PRINCE OF ARRAN (3) didn't get it easy just beaten by The Chosen One in the Herbert Power. Should improve off that and prove very hard to beat. SUPERNOVA (11) just missed third-up in the Bart Cummings running his best race. He'll go close holding that.

STEEL PRINCE (8) will be better for the two runs back and is suited by the extra trip. Oliver is reunited and expect sharp improvement. TRUE SELF (10) is a well performed import who was last seen at York two months ago. He's right up to this and has to be kept very safe using the low gate.

Prince Of Arran followed his return to Australia when second in the Herbert Power Stakes (Gr 2, 2400m) at Caulfield on October 12 with a good win here. He went forward from his wide barrier (11) and settled in second place, tracking the leader (Haky) at a good tempo. He moved up approaching the home turn, took the lead at the 200m and then held on for a good win in a solid staying effort. The Willie Mullins-trained mare True Self settled back in eighth place, on the rails, improved between runners rounding the home turn and then came with a strong late bid for second in a really good run at her Australian debut. Haky went to the front, increased the pace in the mid-stages and then held on well for third after running a bold race, while Red Cardinal was back in tenth place before making ground along the rails for (2.1 lengths) fourth.
