Trainer John Sargent confirmed his plans to start Luvaluva in the $1 million The Gong (1600m) at Kembla Grange on November 23 after she turned heads with her strong second over 1400m behind the in form Greyworm at her first start for five months.

Luvaluva is a G2 winner and had produced two excellent trials leading into her first-up second.

"She'll have another 1400 metre race in two weeks and then she'll go to The Gong," Sargent said.

"It's all systems go for that."

Sargent said Luvaluva needed a lengthy spell after a luckless Queensland campaign early this year.

"It just didn't work out so we pulled the pin and gave her a good long break," he said.

Sargent is also looking at a Perth trip, having nominated the mare for the G1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot on December 7.

"She might go to Perth. We'll just see how the flights are," Sargent said.

Sargent's rising star Foxborough will run in the G2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington next Saturday, a race won by Luvaluva in 2017.

The former Kiwi trainer will also start the three-year-old Brandenburg in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.
