Australia is set to be well represented at the Hong Kong international meeting after a resurgence in entries for the four Group One features at Sha Tin on December 8
There has been little support from Australian stables for the international meeting in recent years due in part to difficult quarantine regulations for horses making the round trip.
However with the quarantine protocols no longer an issue Australian stables have responded with a total of 46 nominations lodged for the four international races when the first entries were taken on October 23.
There are 14 entries from Australian stables for the Longines Hong Kong Cup (2000m), 16 for the Longines Hong Kong Vase (2400m), seven for the Longines Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) and nine for the Longines Hong Kong Mile (1600m).
Among them are 15 Group One winners while another 15 horses trained in Europe or Japan and currently in Australia for the spring carnival have also been nominated.
They include the Japanese-trained winners of the Caulfield Cup (Mer De Glace) and WS Cox Plate (Lys Gracieux).
Crack sprinters Santa Ana Lane, Pierata, Nature Strip, Classique Legend and In Her Time are among the Australian-trained entries for the HK Sprint.
Cox Plate runners Avilius, Cape Of Good Hope, Harlem, Homesman and Kings Will Dream have been nominated for the Hong Kong Cup. Other Australian entries include Mr Quickie, Gailo Chop, Fierce Impact, Samadoubt and Night's Watch.
Avilius and Kings Will Dream are also among the Australian entries for the Hong Kong Vase along with Melbourne Cup contenders Constantinople, Finche, Mirage Dancer, Mustajeer Steel Prince and Rostropovich.
The Hong Kong Mile entries include G1 winners Kolding, Fierce Impact, Le Romain and Samadoubt as well as Classqiue Legend and Fifty Stars.
The big names among the international entries for the meeting include Almond Eye, Magical, Beauty Generation, Kew Gardens, Cross Counter, Benbatl, Anthony Van Dyck, Deirdre, Loves Only You, King Of Change, Circus Maximus, Advertise and Fairyland.
