It was a South Australian victory to kick off Derby Day as Kemalpasa caused a little upset in the 2019 Linlithgow Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.
He was racing on the speed all the way and nothing could make ground.
It's the South Australian's that take the first! Kemalpasa just didn't slow down, well done @jaketoey on scoring your first win during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. @RJollyRacing pic.twitter.com/Qi5jo89qWZ

Winning Trainer: Richard & Chantelle Jolly (Richard speaking)
"We raised the bar with him and he just keeps stepping up. He's just got that will to win and on this sort of day I thought that he'd probably sit back off them but he took up the running more than three-quarters of the way up the straight. He was strong to the line and, who knows, he might just win a better race than today.
"We're more than happy being here Derby Day and getting the money."
On the horse's progression: "He won a maiden at Mindarie-Halidon and then went to Port Lincoln. I didn't expect to be here just over 12 months later. Those couple of trips in the bush just taught him to settle and he's got that tenacious will to win. Who knows what the future holds.
"It's great to have a horse just to be competitive to run here let alone win a race. We'll have good celebrations tonight.
On whether the soft track was advantageous: "It probably brought a few of them back a bit. I was probably more beneficial for him. But we wouldn't have brought him if we didn't think he was up to it.
On the future: "We were looking at taking him to the Magic Millions - he's a Magic Millions horse. It is a next step from here but we might have to review that after he won so well here.
Winning Jockey: Jake Toeroek
On the significance of the win: "I've got to thank Chantelle (Jolly) my partner. It is her first Group 2 as well so I'm really stoked."
"She (Chantelle) is back at home looking after the stable back home."
Thoughts on how Kemalpasa has progressed: "He has gone through his grades really well this prep. He has really had to keep stepping up and once again he's stepped up again today. He is such an honest bloke, he really puts his ears back and has a good crack for me so I love him to death."
