The son of 2014 Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) winner Snitzerland (Snitzel), Hard Landing staged a promising effort in winning here on debut. He began well and he shared the lead, racing closest to the grandstand side, at a steady early tempo. He got to the front as the pace increased at the 300m and then fought back for a narrow but good win. His Lindsay Park-trained stablemate Baaqyah raced close to the leaders, in fourth place before moving up to challenge nearing the 200m and she then battled gamely for (half head) second in a nice effort on debut. Tagaloa settled in eighth place, racing closer to the far side. He improved nicely from the 300m, went to third at the 100m and then fought on well to take the minor placing from the Godolphinraced colt Jerle who made ground from sixth to finish (2.4 lengths) fourth in a sound effort at his second race start.
