Magic Wand's win in the Mackinnon Stakes has lifted her sire Galileo to a record-equalling 84th Group One victory..

The Coolmore stallion has now reached the number set by his ex-stablemate Danehill, champion sire in Australia nine times, Great Britain and Ireland three times and France twice.

Magic Wand claimed Saturday's final Group One race of the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington when she beat Melody Belle and Hartnell over 3000m, four days after running 10th in the Melbourne Cup (3200m).

Galileo, 21, a son of Sadler's Wells, produced his first Group One winner when Nightime won the Irish 1000 Guineas in 2006.

His progeny includes the incomparable Frankel and Magic Wand became Galileo's ninth Group One winner in Australia where he stood for five seasons.

His other Australian Group One winners are: Adelaide (Cox Plate), Cape Of Good Hope (Caulfield Stakes), Foundry (The Metropolitan), Linton (Stradbroke Handicap), Niwot (Sydney Cup), Seville (The Metropolitan), Sousa (Spring Champion Stakes) and The United States (Ranvet Stakes).
