The Summer Cup is a Group 3 race run under Handicap conditions for the middle distance horses at Randwick conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Summer Cup is run over 2000m. It was first run in 1890 and was won by Stockwell.

Early runnings of the Summer Cup were at 2600m and then for 60 years it was a mile and a half race but from 2013 it was only 2000m.

The Summer Cup was a Principal race to 1979 then was Group 3.

The race was run at Rosehill in 2011 and 2012.

The field size has not been large since the race was reduced to 2000m.

There was a lot of Melbourne Cup form 30 years ago as Super Impose, Lord Hybrow, Magnolia Hall and Mr Eurostar all ran well at Flemington.

The Summer Cup is worth $160,000 in 2019.
