2020 LA TRICE CLASSIC - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The La Trice Classic is a Group 3 race for fillies and mares conducted by Perth Racing at Ascot.

The La Trice Classic was first run in 2003 and was won by Fortune Streak. The race has been run twice in one year on a couple of occasions due to the date New Year's Day fell.

The La Trice Classic is run over 1800m under Set Weights and Penalties conditions. Prior to 2014 it was a Listed race but is now a G3.

2006 winner Belle Bizarre would later that year win the G1 Railway Stakes. Elite Belle did exactly the same double in 2014.

Owner Bob Peters has won four of the last six editions.

The 2009 winner Impressive Jeuney was an Oaks winner later that season.

The 2020 La Trice Classic is worth $150,000 run over 1800m.

Notable winners of the La Trice Classic include Kentiara (2004), Belle Bizarre (2006), Impressive Jeuney (2009), Elite Belle (2014) and Ideal Image (2016).

The 2019 La Trice Classic was won by Celebrity Dream from Fontainebleau and Mouquet.
