Star Tasmanian Mandela Effect completed a clean sweep of his home state's summer triple crown but punters will have to wait until they see him back on the mainland.
Trainer Scott Brunton comfirmed Mandela Effect had eared himself a spell ater a fighting win in Wednesday's Steve's Liquor Mowbray Stakes (1600m) at Launceston
It gave the progressive five-year-old a third successive stakes win after claiming the Tasmanian Stakes and Thomas Lyons Stakes earlier in the carnival.
Madela Effect ($1.75) gave his supporters a scare after interference on the turn left him with work to do and it took the entire length of the straight to get his nose in front of stablemate Hellova Street ($2.60) with Zatacla ($8.50) third.
Jockey Craig Newitt was full of praise for Mandela Effect's tenacity.
"I think any lesser horse wouldn't have overcome it," Newitt said of the interference..
"He's got a great will to win - he's a proper horse."
Newitt praised Brunton's handling of Mandela Effect, saying campaigning on the mainland had helped him mature.
"Racing against big fields, genuine horses, it just mentally and physically tightened him right up.
"Without Mystic Journey he's the best horse in the state."
The quinella was a great result for Brunton but left him with some conflicting emotions.
His iron horse Hellova Street was aiming for his fourth successive win in the Mowbray Stakes but had to settle for second to his stablemate for the third time in as many features.
"It was a great thrill," Brunton said.
"It was great to see him win but horrible to see the other horse lose."
Brunton is confident Mandela Effect will continue to progress and believes he will be better suited over further so won't be tempted into pushing him further this campaign.
"I think he's a horse that's going to get 2000m," he said.
"He'll go the paddock. He's had a big preparation and I think he's good enough to win a good race so we'll wait."
