New Zealand Oaks winner Jennifer Eccles will not take part in the Sydney carnival with new travel restrictions on movement across the Tasman in place.

The New Zealand government's announcement on Monday suspending international flights over the COVID-19 crisis means horses cannot travel because their grooms are no longer able to safely accompany them.

The Shaune Ritchie-trained Jennifer Eccles was among the leading contenders for the Oaks on April 11.

NZ Derby runner-up Two Illicit also has to stay at home where racing will be shut down for at least four weeks.

Racing in all states of Australia is going ahead under strict conditions which are being reviewed on a daily basis.
