Racing in Victoria and NSW has been suspended with a licensed person, believed to be a jockey, being tested after possible contact with COVID-19.

Racing Victoria called off Wednesday's Sandown meeting after two races when it learned the participant had travelled on the same plane on March 12 as a person who has tested positive to coronavirus.

Shortly after, the Warwick Farm meeting in Sydney was called off because the licensed person had participated in a NSW meeting.

"We have had information an industry participant who recently participated in Sydney has possibly been exposed to COVID-19 so we have abandoned the meeting," Racing NSW chief steward Wade Birch said.

RV has also called two meetings off on Thursday amid plans to resume on Friday if the licensed person's test is negative.
