3 minute read

Jockey Chelsea Ings has been taken to hospital with concussion following a heavy race fall at Hawkesbury.

Jockey Chelsea Ings has been taken to Westmead Hospital with suspected concussion and facial injuries following a race fall at Hawkesbury.

Ings was dislodged from Miss Merlin, trained by her mother Wanda Ings, after colliding heavily with a rival runner near the 300m of the Australian Farriers Conference Maiden Plate on Thursday.

She was knocked unconscious in the fall but became responsive to the attending ambulance officers shortly after.

The incident comes less than a week after jockey Jenny Duggan suffered a small fracture to the base of her skull as the result of a fall during the final race at the Scone Cup meeting on Friday.
