With two months of the season remaining, champion jockeys Craig Williams and Damien Oliver are poised for another potential premiership battle in Melbourne.

Williams has won eight Victorian metropolitan jockeys' premierships including the past four and currently leads Oliver by four wins in this season's standings.

Oliver has won 10 Melbourne premierships including the 2008/09 season in which he and Williams tied for the title after both finishing on 71 wins.

Ahead of the next metropolitan meeting at Sandown on Wednesday, Williams has ridden 56 metropolitan wins this season with Oliver moving to 52 with a winner at Caulfield last Saturday aboard Right You Are.

Dwayne Dunn is third in the premiership standings on 46.

Oliver, whose most recent premiership came in 2014/15, is booked for four rides at Sandown on Wednesday with Williams booked to ride in three of the eight races.

The season finishes at the end of July.
