Jolly Sailor has landed his third win from four career starts, leading throughout to claim the Bagot's Cowshed Handicap.

Lightly raced Jolly Sailor has continued his rise through the ranks with an impressive all-the-way victory at Flemington.

The Henry Dwyer-trained three-year-old notched his third win from four career starts with his victory in the Bagot's Cowshed Handicap on Saturday.

Having earlier scored aboard Creedence for Matt Cumani, apprentice Michael Poy guided Jolly Sailor, the $6 favourite, to a 1-3/4 length win from Alburq ($9.50) with Barbie's Fox ($9.50) a nose away third.

Matt Jenkins, representing trainer Henry Dwyer, said Jolly Sailor was doing everything on raw ability at this stage of his career.

"I begged Henry before he had his first start to put blinkers on him as I just thought he'd get run off his feet and get lost," Jenkins said.

"Henry bit the bullet and held out, so whatever he is doing now he's going to be better for it."

Poy said Jolly Sailor was a progressive horse adding a lot of credit must go to Jake Duffy who rode the gelding at his first two starts.

"He said he was a smart galloper and he has been proven right," Poy said.

"I won on him last start beating a handy horse and he's come here to Saturday grade and put them away again."
