2020 PREMIER'S CUP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Premier's Cup is a Group 3 race conducted by the Brisbane Racing Club usually at Eagle Farm as part of the Queensland racing carnival.

The Premier's Cup was introduced in 2006 as a feature handicap that serves as a lead-up to the Brisbane Cup.

Since 2006 the Premier's Cup was run over 2200m at Doomben with the exception of 2015 when the distance was 2020m. However it is now at 2400m with the Brisbane Cup up in distance.

The race in 2020 was moved to late June at Doomben in the re-jigged carnival.

The 2020 Premier's Cup was worth prizemoney of $125,000 due to the coronavirus.

Earlier winners of the Premier's Cup include Theseo, Rezone, Reggie, Precedence, Zephyron, Faust and Real Love.

The 2019 Premier's Cup was won by The Candy Man from Haripour and Igraine.
