Multiple Group One winner Humidor could be racing for his career when he runs in a stakes race in Perth.

Humidor contests the Group Three Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday, his third start for trainer Lindsey Smith.

The gelding finished 10 first-up over 1400m before rising to 1600m when eighth in the Group Three Hyperion Stakes at Belmont on June 13.

Smith, who also has stables at Warrnambool in Victoria, has been back in Perth in recent weeks overseeing Humidor's preparation.

"I have been riding him since I have been home and he has dropped a lot of weight," Smith told RSN927.

The trainer is hoping the gelding can show a glimpse of his best form otherwise his racing days may be numbered.

"He has to run top-three," Smith said.

"As this is the last sort of race he can race in in Perth, he has to run top-three to warrant going back.

"The owners might want to try him with someone else, but that is where he sits with me."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
