2020 THE ROSEBUD - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Rosebud is a Listed race run under Quality Handicap conditions for three year olds at Rosehill conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Rosebud is run over 1100m and is the first of the lead up races to the Golden Rose. Previous runnings have been at 1200m.

It was first run in 2011 and won by Aeronautical.

The only filly to win The Rosebud is She's A Fox.

Hugh Bowman has won a couple of runnings of The Rosebud as has Tommy Berry.

Menari has carried the most weight at 60.5kg.

The 2020 Rosebud was run for prizemoney of $140,000.

Winners of The Rosebud in this form are Aeronautical (2011), She's A Fox (2012), Eurozone (2013), Scissor Kick (2014), Sebring Sun (2015), Thronum (2016), Menari (2017), Sandbar (2018) and Dawn Passage (2019).

Back second last beaten 11 lengths was Lasqueti Spirit who would go on to win the Oaks at the end of the 2016 Spring.

The 2019 Rosebud was won by Dawn Passage from Let It Pour and Lucicello.
