Mr Malek To Have The Edge

3 minute read

Easily one of the most anticipated clashes at Kranji on Saturday evening sees Mr Malek line up against Rocket Star in the tenth event.

Trained by Lee Freedman, Mr Malek was unbeaten last preparation, making it four straight wins when last seen on the turf track.

Fighting hard the whole way, he put in a big lunge to share the spoils with the Donna Logan trained Makkem Lad.

Since spelled, he has had the two trials in the lead up and while not asked to do much, he looks in fine fettle for his return.

Harry Kasim takes over the riding and should be able to get him into a lovely spot from the middle draw.

He is unbeaten at this course and distance (4/4) and while rising at the weights, he still appears well placed.

Conceding a fitness edge to his main rival Rocket Star  is a concern, however he seems to have the talent to overcome this.

Certainly no knock on Rocket Star, do expect the pair to fight it out.

Trained by Ricardo Le Grange, Rocket Star returned with a bang last start when far too good in Class 4 company.

Ridden by Vlad Duric, he was home a long way out and wasn't marked far off his peak.

While arguably better over further, Le Grange has kept him fresh (28 days) and always a big tick with Duric sticking aboard.

The draw does look sticky, just where he gets to is a concern, however you have to respect his class.

In 10 starts he is yet to miss the money and never runs a bad race.

When comparing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, there is little between the pair and expect a great finish.

The Cliff Brown trained Gold Star  went out a winner and appears the next in line.

While yet to really fire fresh previously, he look to turn the corner last time in and has to be respected.

Of the rest the Donna Logan trained Makkem Lad appears the next in line.

Good luck and happy punting.
