International Syndication group Highclere continued their success in Australia at Bendigo this afternoon with Global Gift who took out the $35,000 bet365 BM78 Handicap.

Worsening track conditions saw the field reduced to just five runners, however an inspired ride from Ben Melham saw the five-year-old son on Invincible Spirit lead throughout and dominating in the run to the line winning by almost three lengths.

"We thought it would pan out that way, he would relax nicely enough in front. Ben (Melham) got the tempo of the race absolutely spot on," David Eustace Co-trainer told Racing.com post-race.

"It's great for Highclere. They purchase these horses to bring down here (from the UK) and (try to) win some nice staying races and hopefully he can go on and do that."

"We think he will stay 2000m, probably not getting any further than that at this stage. Another run at a mile or perhaps an 1800m at Sandown will be next. We haven't rushed the horse and no need to rush him again up in trip," said David.

Global Gift was having just his fourth race start in Australia and his first at 1600m down-under, a distance range at which all four career wins have come.

Global Gift was too strong over the concluding stages for race favourite Tatunka who had every chance with Howlowcanyougo a well beaten third.
