2020 CONCORDE STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Concorde Stakes is a Group 3 race run under Set Weights and Penalty conditions for open class horses at Randwick conducted by the Australian Turf Club.

The Concorde Stakes is run over 1000m. It was originally run at Rosehill and after two years at Warwick Farm, went to Randwick from 2013.

It was first run in 1989 and was won by Alpine Flyer. It is run on the Tattersalls Club race day.

The Concorde Stakes was upgraded to Group 3 in 1997.

Redzel became the first time three time winner.

Redzel used the 2017 edition as his kick off in the campaign that led to winning the inaugural Everest six week later. He did the same thing 12 months later.

The 2007 race was not held due to the Equine Influenza break out.

The 2020 Concorde Stakes was run for prizemoney of $160,000.

Notable winners of the Concorde Stakes include Redzel (2017/2018/2019), Tiger Tees (2012), Decision Time (2011/2013), Reward For Effort (2010), Typhoon Zed (2008), Red Oog (2005), Private Steer (2003), Phoenix Park (2001), Guineas (1999), Just Awesome (1994), Deposition (1993), Final Card (1992) and Joanne (1991).

The 2019 Concorde Stakes was won by Redzel from Pierata and Graff.
