In unideal circumstances, Corowa trainer Geoff Duryea has reported to NSW Stewards this morning that his potential Kosziousko charge New's Girl has pulled up lame following trackwork last Saturday.

With ticket sales for the Kosciusko closing this week, it presents as unfortuntate timing for those associated with New's Girl as she attempts to overcome a small hiccup in the preparation.

The Magnus Mare, who hasn't raced since the end of May, would almost be guranteed a start in the big dance should she be up for selection.

Stablemate and favourite for the race Front Page is the one on everyone's lips at present, but this mare has strong Victorian form from down South and shouldn't be underestimated.

News Girl currently sits a $15 chance to win the race with TAB, drifting from $11 following this news.

The Kosciusko is the richest Country race in the world, set for decision at Randwick on October 17.
