Personal to open 1000 Guineas bid at Flemington

The Lindsay Park will unveil their main spring hope when Personal runs on the straight course at Flemington on Saturday.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the three-year-old filly would be entered for the $140,000 Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m) and the $200,000 Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) with a leaning towards the longer race.

Dabernig said the stable may not be a big player in the main features of the spring and was counting on Personal as their Group 1 hope.

Personal is being aimed at next month's $1 million Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.

"I'm preferring the 1200 metres rather than the 1100 metres first-up as her run in the Blue Diamond she was doing her best work through the line," Dabernig said.

"She gets a bit of weight off the boys and we've won it recently with Catchy

"Catchy won the Blue Diamond and you could argue that Personal could also have won the Blue Diamond as she was unlucky.

"Her first-up run is not about having her screwed down to win, it's more a kick-off point to a bigger prize."

Dabernig said he had considered starting Personal in Saturday's Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) at The Valley, but held concerns about the track after it was battered by rain at it's previous meeting on August 22.

Instead Dabernig took advantage of a gallop between races at Benalla last Tuesday with stablemate Aysar

"They worked well and it was good to give them a trip away for a bit of stimulation," Dabernig said.

"We can't go anywhere for trials and I thought it was a good way of bringing them on a little bit."

Aysar will run in a Benchmark 64 race at Sandown on Wednesday and Dabernig said the three-year-old could head towards the $2 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 10.

Dabernig conceded the stable was as yet to find a contender for the Caulfield Guineas.

"Aysar would need to win on Wednesday and then maybe go to the Guineas Prelude and if he ran well in that then we could consider the Guineas," Dabernig said.

"Crosshaven may head to the Guineas.

"We'll go to the Exford Plate (1400m) on Saturday and that will tell us a bit more in which direction he is heading."

Dabernig said Harlem and So Si Bon may be the stable's representatives in the Group 1 $750,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) on Saturday.
