Godolphin trainer James Cummings is banking on the Sydney three-year-old fillies form being superior to their Melbourne counterparts when Thermosphere runs at Flemington on Saturday.

Thermosphere will be making her debut in Melbourne when she runs in the $300,000 Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m).

TAB has Thermosphere as their $4.40 favourite with the filly to be ridden by Damian Lane from barrier 11.

Thermosphere comes into Saturday's race off the back of three runs in Sydney, each time in Group 2 company, and each time with Dame Giselle proving successful.

After two runs over 1200m in the Silver Shadow Stakes and Furious Stakes respectively, Thermosphere was a last start fifth in the Tea Rose Stakes over 1400m.

Cummings said the filly was now well positioned to tackle the 1600m journey on Saturday.

"She brings some honest Sydney form to Melbourne," Cummings said of Thermosphere.

"After three runs this time in, this should have her in prime condition and she appears to be well-placed.

"In fact, each time she has stepped out this prep her riders have warned she will be a different horse when finally up to 1600 metres."

The Godolphin stable will also saddle Silhouette in the 1600m contest who will be ridden by in form Irish jockey John Allen and jump from barrier two.

Cummings said the stable will learn a bit more about the daughter of Teofilo who will be lining up for her sixth start on Saturday.

At her last start, which was her first after a short break, Silhouette finished seventh to Odeum in the Listed Jim Moloney Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19.

"She's still quite new to this caper," Cummings said.

"We were encouraged by the way she warmed up late last start, but she was way too fresh early.

"She might just get the opportunity to announce herself as a spring contender if she sprouts wings against these fillies from a nice draw."

In contrast to her stablemate, Silhouette is considered a rough each-way chance of collecting the prize being a $16 chance in latest TAB markets.
