That was a great win in the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic from Sisstar and a top ride from @LaneDamian to give him a treble at Ballarat. @mmsnippets @mcevoymitchell pic.twitter.com/1A9VIh7zcF
Winning Trainer: Tony & Calvin McEvoy (Calvin speaking)
"Unfortunately she didn't grow into the size that Sunlight was, she's quite a petite little filly. But she's got a lot of guts and an awkward racing style which can bring her undone sometimes. She relaxed beautifully out there for Damian and she was in for the fight which was fantastic.
"I actually thought that she'd lead a bit easier than that because she has been overracing, but she just came back under him beautifully. It was great to see what horses can do when they relax midrace.
"Well done to the owners. They've been extremely patient. She's always lived in the shadow of Sunlight but she's done a fantastic job and already a Group 3 winner and worth a lot of money.
"I'd just like to thank the Adelaide team. She's very difficult to train. She spends most of her time back in South Australia and travels over to race, so the team has done a great job over there. Tony will be claiming this one, I think."
On Game Keeper in the Ballarat Cup: "He was terrific. He was really peaking for today and in a tightly bunched finish he probably didn't get a lot of luck, and also the track might've been a bit firm for him. He cemented that he's right up to these and will be even better next year."
Winning Jockey: Damian Lane
"She ran really well first-up without much luck and went really good second-up leading into a headwind in a good field, so I felt that today was back in class a touch. It suited her better back around a bend on a firm surface."
Beaten Jockeys:
Craig Williams on The Astrologist: "Still a big baby and had a bit too much to do at a high tempo. Just got a little but under pressure around the bend and in the straight. For a 'defeat' run there was so much merit in it today."
