Winning Trainer: Matthew Smith (on phone)
"It was a hard watch at Sandown last start. He didn't have a lot of luck and we we got him home after that he was bouncing so it made the decision to have a go at this race much easier. Plus Nash was available as he was going to Melbourne anyway and I thought 'that'll work well'.
"I'm really appreciative of the ownership and OTI as they supported me in deciding to send him to Melbourne and take on these races. That means a lot.
Future prospects: "He's always looked like he's a 2400-plus horse so, I can't see any reason why we wouldn't look at races like the Sydney Cup. I can't see any reason why we wouldn't give it a shot.
"I'm just delighted because he promised and he delivered.
"It's great to finish off the carnival like this. Everything that we have sent to Melbourne has gone well (including scoring a G1 win). It fills us with genuine confidence to do it all again next year."
Winning Jockey: Nash Rawiller
"I've got to be honest, I've had good support all week and that's the first winner I rode. But it's good to be back and catch up with old friends and acquaintances that I've ridden for over the years and they've been kind enough to give me a nice ride."
On the horse: "I think he's a really good stayer, he just proved that. It was a bit of a slog but he really shone through when it counted. I think he'll be placed to advantage in the autumn where could almost win a Sydney Cup or something like that. He's a nice horse.
"Craig (Williams, Creedence) wanted to pop off there at the half-mile and I made sure I didn't. But I probably did him a favour as he nearly got up on the fence and beat me. That's the way it goes.
"Full credit to my horse and Matty Smith, they've done a great job."
<Rawiller won the Pakenham Cup back in 2003>
"Pakenham (old) racetrack was where we all cut our teeth, all the boys from my era."
