Maryborough Trot Comment Monday

3 minute read

Race One:

Race One:

OVERVIEW: CAESAR MOON (1) is a maiden from 33 starts but he has been placed 12 times and he has been promising to win a race of this standard throughout the season. He is much better drawn than his recent efforts so a bold showing is expected. THE BOOST (3) settled down in 5th position, moved into the running lane (1-2) and came out four horses wide from the 300m when 4th behind Fashion Shark at Kilmore last week. He is racing consistently against this class and is not without a chance. WHERESMILZEE (6) settled six back on the outside, saved a lot of ground by switching to the markers in the back straight but finished off strongly when a game 2nd at Stawell last week. He is widely drawn again but he should be competitive against this class. WIL HE STAR (5) attempted to lead throughout when 3rd behind Megiddo at Geelong last week. The drop back in distance is an advantage and he is a chance at his first start for trainer Albert Cefai. TED AND NED (4) was placed against similar opposition last outing and is a minor place chance again.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 1,4.

Race Two:

OVERVIEW: MY SHADY MATE (8) broke stride at the start and lost approximately 20m early, settled four back on the markers and finished fast along the sprint lane when a big 3rd at his debut. This race is no harder and he will take beating with a safe getaway. COURTS BLISS (1) races best when she is able to lead over the sprint distance so she has the conditions to suit her here. She attempted to lead all of the way when 2nd over the 2240m at Swan Hill last outing so she should give another forward showing. ANDREW SWAGGER (4) makes his debut for trainer Kate Hargreaves. He finished 3rd behind the smart pacer Soextra at a Bendigo trial effort on Monday, where he dashed to the front coming out of the back straight and tired late. He did race very roughly in the latter stages of that trial but he is worth following against this class. A LIL BETTOR (5) showed very good gate speed to lead, took a trail behind the winner Fashion Shark and battled away for 3rd at Kilmore last week. She has been placed in three of her four starts to date and she should be competitive again.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,4,5.

Race Three:

OVERVIEW: PARISIAN ARTISTE (8) will appreciate a huge drop back in class on his latest performances and will prove hard to beat. He settled four back on the markers and didn't have much room in the straight when 5th in the Breeders Crown and followed with an 8th in the Gavin Lang Trot. TENNERSON (7) comes out of the same races as PARISIAN ARTISTE (8) and is capable of showing improvement. He can't seem to draw a good alley and went back at the start from a wide draw in both the Breeders Crown and The Gavin Lang Trot. He will probably settle in the 2nd half of the field but he should run a good race against this class. QUEEN INVASION (2) settled midfield on the outside (1-2), came out three horses wide at the 700m finished 3rd behind Senitas Strength at Bendigo last week. She may have finished closer but she wanted to hang in when wide on the track. She is much better drawn for this assignment and is likely to try and lead all of the way. COPACABANA (9) ran an improved race for 3rd at Bendigo last week and has place claims. Other place hopes include the first starter VISIONARY (1) and LOVE GUN (6).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1.

Race Four:

OVERVIEW: MEADOWVALLEY LOVER (10) gained a one out and one back trail, came out three horses wide from the 1100m and dashed around the field to find the lead at the 900m when she finished a close 2nd behind the smart filly Senitas Strength at Bendigo last week. She ran a great race after missing the start when 4th prior so she must be respected. CENTRAL OTAGO (9) broke at the start and settled five back on the outside when a creditable 6th in the Gavin Lang Trot last week. He chased gamely when 2nd behind the Breeders Crown runner up Don't Care at Maryborough prior so he appears to be well placed against this line up. UNSPOKEN LOVE (3) made her trotting debut last week when she trailed the leader, got held up for a run at a vital stage and broke stride when trying to accelerate in the latter stages. She performed very nicely at the trials prior and is worth another chance. IMA DESTROYER (1) is a maiden from 9 starts but she has a powerful finishing burst so she could be a danger via the sprint lane over the concluding stages. IMASOCIALBUTTERFLY (2) appeared to have her chance after leading last week but is drawn to be in a prominent position again so she is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,4.

Race Five:

OVERVIEW: REACTOR FACTOR (7) should be close to his peak form after his three runs back from a break and is getting close to a win. He settled in the 2nd half of the field, came out five horses wide on the home turn and finished strongly for an eye-catching 3rd behind Crocrock last outing. LET'S MAKE TRACKS (8) competed in a tough heat of the Super Series at Ballarat on Friday night and is likely to find this assignment to be easier. He loomed up to win at Shepparton prior but found I'm The Mightygramps to be a little too quick in the straight. He is a strong type and should be competitive against this class. EXECUTION ORO (6) pushed forward out three horses wide from the bell and fought on strongly for 2nd at Maryborough last outing. She is racing in honest form and should prove hard to beat again, particularly if she can find the lead. UNION LIZ (4) broke through for her first win in 21 starts when she finished quickly to score at Bendigo last outing. She is meeting a slightly stronger field but she should be finishing off strongly again. HUEY TREVOR (1) has shown some promise at the trials leading up to his debut and is a place chance from the pole position.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible early leader), 2,6,7.

Race Six:

OVERVIEW: GOOROC GAMBLER (5) has shown good manners from behind the tapes at his past three attempts having led on each occasion. He copped some pressure mid-race and battled on well for 2nd behind Wisp of Smoke (won again since) last outing so he is capable of going one better. READY TO RULE (9) is a handy type when he puts it altogether but he has made errors at his first two attempts at the races. He led throughout and defeated the open class trotters Izmok and Mass Destruction at his latest Kilmore trial victory so he cannot be discarded. MYSTIC CHIP (4) is a speedy beginner and is a good chance of landing the prime position behind the leader around the first turn. She has been runner up five times recently against similar opposition, the latest being a handy finishing effort behind Louieville Lass at Bendigo on Thursday night. CORK (2) and FLING IT RAINBOW (3) have both been racing well from the mobile start recently and are a chance if they are able to step away safely.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 2,4.

Race Seven:

OVERVIEW: MAJOR WATSON (10) is a smart former New Zealand pacer, which endured a torrid trip in a slick mile of 1.53.6 and faded at his Australian debut. His form across the Tasman was strong and he did trial extremely well at Bendigo prior to his first up run so he is worth another chance. BELITTLED (5) has been freshened since his latest 7th at Kilmore. He possesses a powerful finishing burst and recorded a scintillating mile rate of 1.51.9 when he scored at Bendigo in Feb so he appears to be well graded in this event. BRUISED EGO (9) was shuffled back on the markers from the inside of the 2nd line and didn't have a great deal of luck when 7th at Charlton last outing. He defeated the honest mare Gracie Cullen (won since) at a Horsham victory on Nov 09 and he should be hitting the line strongly from his trailing draw. BETTOR ROMANCE (11) has returned from a break in peak form and did a good job to finish 3rd after enduring a tough run at her latest 3rd behind Diamond Party. She is not well drawn but she has the ability to show up prominently. LETS WENT (1) and DADDYWHO (2) are both worth thought from their good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3.

Race Eight:

OVERVIEW: DELIGHTFUL MIA (6) has been racing mostly at Metropolitan level recently and appears to be well graded in this event. She had no luck after drawing on the inside of the 2nd line last outing and she is likely to utilize her brilliant gate speed to get across to the markers around the first corner here. ROCKASAKI (7) hasn't raced since Feb but she knuckled down strongly in the straight to win a trial in handy time at Maryborough recently and she should be competitive against this line up. PEMBROOK CHARLIE (3) is backing up quickly from his effort at Melton on Saturday but he has performed strongly since coming from New Zealand and looms as one of the major chances. ROCKNROLL NOAH (8) possesses a brilliant finishing burst and will take holding out in the run to the finish, particularly if ROCKABELLA STARZ (1) is able to hold a forward position at the start. ROCKABELLA STARZ (1) hasn't been at her best form since resuming but the draw and distance of this assignment will suit her.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 1,5.

Race Nine:

OVERVIEW: MAJOR BANKS (9) led and missed out narrowly when 2nd behind Iamawingate at Maryborough last outing. He led and won a trial on Sunday so he is ready to break through for a win against this class. GOOD GUY MACK (7) pressed forward to find the lead from the pole position, ran along at a genuine tempo and was gunned down by the New South Wales trained pacer Good Time Nedra at Shepparton. He has been very consistent throughout his campaign and deserves to break through for a win. AMORE ROCK (8) is an interesting runner. He hasn't started since a 3rd behind the smart pacer Yankee Gold at Ballarat in July and hasn't been to the trials but he showed a lot of promise at his first campaign of racing. He follows out behind a fast beginner and should be running home strongly at the end. SPUNKY THOUGHTZ (1) beat easier opposition at Mildura last outing but her overall form is strong and she is drawn to receive every chance. FEROCIOUS SON (6) and SAFARI CHEER (10) are both worth thought in an open race to end the program.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,5,7.
