2020 ASAHI HAI FUTURITY STAKES - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes is a Grade 1 race run under Set Weight conditions for two year old colts and fillies at Hanshin racecourse conducted by the Japan Racing Association.

The Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes is run over 1600m. It was first run in 1949.

The Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes was worth JPY152,200,000 in 2020.

Hanshin racecourse is a right handed course with the start halfway up the back straight.

This is effectively the championship race for all the 2yos each year.

After previously being held at Nakayama, it was moved to Hanshin in 2014.

After winning this race in 2009 and good runs in the Japanese Classics, Rose Kingdom would controversially have a Japan Cup on the mantelpiece a year later.

Craig Williams won this race aboard Alfredo during a stint in 2011.

Admire Mars would win a NHK Mile Cup and then the Hong Kong Mile at the end of his 3yo season.
