Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 16th January 2021

3 minute read

Happy New Year to all, hopefully everyone had a great break and we can kick off the new year on a winning note.

Really like the card at Rosehill on Saturday, we are back on a good track, rail true and we see a few progressive three-year-olds lining up.

The Team Price trained Count De Rupee takes on the older horses in the fifth event, but looks well placed down in the weights and should prove hard to beat.

He bolted in at Kembla Grange first up (rode the speed), before thrown in the deep end second up when safely held behind Eleven Eleven.

Stepped up to 1300m last start, he simply got too far back when closing off well behind Private Eye.

By Real Impact, you imagine he will be much better suited back on top of the ground and expect him to settle a lot closer from the inside draw.

The Freedman trained Cognac is the unknown stepping out for his Australian debut, but aside from that Count De Rupee doesn't appear to line up against any stars.

With clear air in the straight, he should prove very hard to hold out.

The Team Hawkes trained Shaik was most impressive in her stable debut last start and looks well placed to go back to back in the seventh event.

Formerly trained by Brad Widdup, Shaik displayed good talent in her 2YO campaign and now looks set to go on with it as a 3YO.

Her closing splits at Warwick Farm were very impressive and indicative of a horse who should be even better over further.

Drawn well she looks to get a lovely run for Berry, just hoping she can begin a little better and take up a position as there doesn't look a great deal of speed engaged.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, she looks to have a bit on them and if able to continue her upward spiral, she looks very hard to beat.

Have her marked 2-1, so happy to bet up at the early price.

Good luck and happy punting.
