Extreme Warrior will take a different path to the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes than his sire did when winning Melbourne's most prestigious juvenile race five years ago.

Extreme Choice  went into the Blue Diamond (1200m) at Caulfield, this year run on February 20, following wins in the Inglis Nursey at Randwick and the Group 3 Chairman's Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield. 

On the otherhand, Extreme Warrior was up and about earlier in the season than his sire, finishing second in the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield back in October at his only start. 

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained two-year-old makes his reappearance on Tuesday in the colts and geldings heat of the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m). 

Whether Extreme Warrior  lines up in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on February 6 will be determined after the youngster competes on Tuesday. 

Price said there was improvement to come from Extreme Warrior after the youngster galloped on the Polytrack at Caulfield on Friday under Liam Riordan. 

"He's a quick horse, he's a tenacious horse," Price said. 

"I just noticed that between the 400 (metres) and the 200 he was 11.66 (seconds), while the last furlong was 11.99 and I did say to Liam to 'make your last furling your best'. 

"The horse came back in and had a puff. He's had two trials and it's only 1000 metres. He's going to be in the finish, but if fitness pinches him against some raced horses, then that's OK, I'll wear that. 

"He's in beautiful order and he'll race very well. 

"His tenacity might get him there but he's not quite 100 per cent fit but that's OK, he's not supposed to be 100 per cent with almost a month to the Blue Diamond." 

Extreme Warrior is the $4.80 equal-second pick on Tuesday with TAB, sharing that line with the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Gulf Of Suez. 

General Beau , a debut Flemington winner before running second in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at Flemington last October, is the $3.80 favourite.
