Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

3 minute read

Best Bet: Alleboom (Race 1), Each-Way: Crown Mint (Race 5) And Value: Gougers (Race 9).

RACE 1 - 12:36PM TAB Long May We Play Handicap (1000 METRES)

ALLEBOOM is a smart horse who won down the Flemington straight before coming home and beating The Big Goodbye here in November. The inside gate around the Parks looks ideal and he's the clear top pick. The $2.50 in early markets didn't last long and rightly so. FLOSTAR ran fourth behind Parlaphone in the Listed Lightning Stakes here back in July. She was run off her legs by All Banter last time. SYMPHONETTE was good beating Annika two starts back before she battled to match it with the big boy Behemoth last time in the Durbridge. She sat back and struggled to pick up when the speed came into the race, but looks much better suited here back in restricted grade. PARIANO has been racing well in Victoria and draws to get a nice run here.

SELECTIONS: ALLEBOOM, Symphonette, Flostar

RACE 2 - 1:11PM Dominant Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

GREAT DIVINER has had two trials. She looked good coming off the speed and was ridden out to win at Gawler, and then wanted to lay in towards the inside behind Zaheera in a Morphettville trial on Monday. Keep an eye on any betting moves. STASIA finished third in Great Diviner's Gawler trial and wasn't asked to do a lot late. She wears the blinkers for the first time. EFFORTKAT has been bursting to break through and draws a nice barrier. VIRTUE was well backed to run favourite when runner-up behind Chill With Teejay last time and is sure to be prominent. SELF SUFFICIENT strips fitter here after leading them up first-up and getting tired late. KUNGKA MARU battled away on debut behind Echoes In Eternity before trialling nicely at Morphettville on Monday, while stablemate A BIT RACEY draws a nice gate and wears the winkers for the first time.

SELECTIONS: GREAT DIVINER, Stasia, Effortkat

RACE 3 - 1:46PM Leconfield Handicap (1000 METRES)

Plenty to like about BOLSONARO, who was game on debut when eaten three lengths behind Gulf Of Suez and he jumped out very smartly at Strathalbyn for this. HANABI looks to have good speed and plenty of talent. HAURAKI GULF was OK at debut at Moonee Valley behind Telluride, draws a good gate and is sure to give this a shake. Stablemate SMART ACE ran on strongly at Gawler on debut and must be respected. KNIGHTSTOWN sat behind the speed and was punched out when taking inside runs to win a Morphettville trial nicely on Monday. Stablemate MY KHALIFA trialled well on the same day and likewise didn't go around a horse before she was nosed out by Princess Raffles. MANHATTEN TIMES finished off smartly in a Gawler trial and looks to have some solid ability, while stablemate COURAGEOUS HEARTS trialled on the same day but was well beaten behind Hanabi. ROXY BLUE was a dominant four-length Port Lincoln winner on debut.

SELECTIONS: HANABI, Bolsonaro, Manhatten Times

 RACE 4 - 2:26PM TAB Handicap (2400 METRES)

TIBETAN has been good at three runs back from a spell that all point to him craving a trip. He was again strong through the line behind Medieval Miss over 1800m last time. The 2400m should hold no fears and he'll take beating, even with his big weight. LOLLIELUCAS looked in a winnable race midweek but has opted for this. He was a good winner at Oakbank and gives the impression the further the better. FAIRLIGHT is a former Kris Lees import whose three wins have all come at this trip. He should strip fitter for his first run for Peter Hardacre at Warrnambool and can improve.

SELECTIONS: TIBETAN, Lollielucas, Fairlight

 RACE 5 - 3:06PM Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (1250 METRES)

CROWN MINT is a promising horse. He tested the water against some good horses in the spring, chasing home the likes of Crosshaven and Glenfiddich, and went to the paddock after running sixth behind Ain'tnodeeldun in the Hill Smith Stakes. His two trials back have been very good, he draws a good gate and will be hard to beat fresh. He looks well over the odds. RIVER TWAIN was well backed to lead throughout at Geelong last time. He's going to be in this for a long way from the inside gate and aided by the claim for Jess Eaton. ANOTHER AWARD is a nice horse and looked good handling THE BIG GOODBYE last time out. She should be fitter and looks well up to this sort of class, while stablemate PIMM'S PARTY was good resuming behind Echoes In Eternity. THE GRADUATE was a Warrnambool winner on debut and then easy in betting when beaten 3.2 lengths behind Echoes In Eternity last time. He's now with Ryan Balfour, trialled well and should be thereabouts. MRS MOURINHO looks an improver getting out to 1200m. She was well fancied last start behind Another Award. BRIBERY had trialled well and was OK first-up but she draws out which isn't ideal. ULTIMATE VICTORY will be running on.

SELECTIONS: CROWN MINT, Another Award, Mrs Mourinho

RACE 6 - 3:46PM Winning Edge Presentations Handicap (1300 METRES)

SKY PUNCH has won two, placed two, of six first-up runs and caused a boilover in the Leon Macdonald Stakes first-up over 1400m back in August. He must be given plenty of respect here from a good gate. REGALO DI GAETANO gets out to 1300m after a nice return behind Behemoth in the Durbridge. He's tracking towards a start in the All-Star Mile and is sure to be in the finish here with any luck from the inside gate. HANKSTAR is chasing three wins in succession and was impressive at Murray Bridge two starts back before beating La Richesse at Gawler. FOX HALL looks right in this. He was pretty good behind Mystyko last time at Murray Bridge. LIVE AND FREE is first-up for the Phillip Stokes stable and has trialled nicely for his SA debut. He's placed at Listed level over 2000m and has placed at two of six first-up. JESTER HALO was good behind Renegade at Murray Bridge two starts back before she wasn't beaten far by Mr Money Bags at Warrnambool last time.

SELECTIONS: SKY PUNCH, Regalo Di Gaetano, Fox Hall

RACE 7 - 4:26PM Furphy Handicap (1250 METRES)

Wide open race. HEYINGTON STATION has been good at both runs in SA. He led them up when reeled in late by Ironclad last week, but faces a sticky wide gate. LAKE'S FOLLY has done a good job in SA and was taking ground off Ironclad last time. He has the cheekers on here but is also drawn off the track. MAY BE FATE has won his past two in softer company than this but there was plenty of merit in his last victory when he covered ground and was too good for Carbone. PHYLA VELL had specking and led when she wasn't beaten far behind Cotillion last time at Gawler. Stablemate BOLT I AM is way over the odds but does need to improve. LEGGERO has run well his past three in Victoria, the latest at Flemington, and he draws well. SADENTE was good winning here last campaign and must be respected from a handy draw. VIDUKA draws a gate and has been around the mark but in slightly inferior opposition to this.

SELECTIONS: HEYINGTON STATION, Lake's Folly, Bolt I Am

RACE 8 - 5:01PM Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap (1000 METRES)

NICCONI PONI has trialled nicely for her return. She didn't do a lot in her first two starts for the Clarken team, but there has been some early support to suggest she'll run a big race here. OCEAN REWARD is on the back-up from last week when third behind Pindaric, which is good form for this. STATE OF CLASS draws the inside and was a winner here over this trip in his two-year-old season. He's fresh, so keep an eye on betting. OUR SUSTAR was heavily backed to beat Royal Mile at Penola back in October and trialled OK behind Muffla and Crown Mint. CALL ME CURTIS maps well from barrier four. He's only won once from 18 starts here but has been placed 14 times and has solid each-way appeal at a price. MRS HYDE looks the early speed and should give them something to chase. She carved up after running behind Calypso Reign last time.

SELECTIONS: NICCONI PONI, Call Me Curtis, Ocean Reward

RACE 9 - 5:40PM TAB Adelaide Cup Day, Monday March 8 Handicap (1400 METRES)

Another very good betting race. GOUGERS maps really well here from barrier four. He has a good record this track and trip and is worth an each-way ticket at a big price. Likewise ANGASTON should be nice and handy to the speed and he landed some good bets to score at Pakenham last time. LA RICHESSE is very good when she can roll forward and dictate. She stuck on well behind May Be Fate last time and that form has been franked since. AMBIDAZZLE draws well and she stuck to her task well behind Ironclad last week. LORD VLADIVOSTOK was only beaten 3.7 lengths behind Hankstar last time, but did look a touch disappointing on face value. I liked his trial behind Garner and the stable has added earmuffs and a lugging bit, and taken the winkers off. EXALTED TRAVELLER was a narrow winner over Table Of Wisdom last time at Gawler, but this is harder, especially from a wide gate. WONAEAMIRRI is going nicely, having won three of his past four, but steps up in class.

SELECTIONS: GOUGERS, Angaston, Lord Vladivostok
