Trainer Stu Kendrick is hopeful Star Of Michelin can record back-to-back wins on his home track this Saturday ahead of a possible winter campaign.
Star Of Michelin steps up in grade to the Listed Tattersall's Members' Cup over 1600 metres after claiming a sixth career win in a 1600-metre Class 6 at the Sunshine Coast last month.
Bred by the late Ross Cutts of Show A Heart fame, Star Of Michelin has overcome adversity in his 19-start career and continues to prove his critics wrong.
The gelding suffered from a couple of bouts of cardiac arrhythmia as a three-year-old but has fought back on each occasion after given the all-clear at a university veterinary hospital on the Darling Downs.
Apprentice Sheriden Tomlinson will again partner Star Of Michelin despite it being a non-claiming race.
"Sheridan seems to be the only one who gets him going," Kendrick said.
"He's had three rides on him for two wins and a second so he deserves his chance in a Listed race."
Star Of Michelin is kept away from smaller tracks likes Doomben and the Gold Coast as much as possible because of his trouble handling tight turns and is reserved for bigger tracks like Eagle Farm and the Sunshine Coast.
He has failed in five starts at Doomben and once at the Gold Coast while he has a success rate of 50% from eight starts on the bigger stretches at Eagle Farm.
"I'd like to see him ridden midfield so he can use his sprint," Kendrick said.
"It was a good win last start and I would prefer to see him ridden a bit quieter this time.
"If he happens to win, I'll definitely look at the winter carnival and will work out a few targets for him.
"He should get 2000 metres but I'll probably have to keep him to Eagle Farm."
Star Of Michelin is a son of Jet Spur out of the unraced Show A Heart mare Conca Bella whose mother Wabble won the 2012 Group 1 Oakleigh Plate in Melbourne.
Show A Heart was a multiple Group 1 winner, claiming the Group 1 TJ Smith at Eagle Farm in 2000 before the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas the same year.
He went on to win the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Flemington in 2001 before claiming the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm at his final appearance in 2002.
