Having claimed one rich sales company race in Sydney, David Pfieffer and Rocketing By will attempt to add a Melbourne version at Flemington Saturday.
A graduate of the 2019 Scone Yearling Sale for $22,000, Rocketing By has won his owners more than $722,000, courtesy of the $584,000 he collected in the Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Randwick on February 6.
He can bolster that by $275,000 if successful in the Inglis Dash (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday.
Pfieffer and Rocketing By arrived in Melbourne on Thursday and according to the trainer the So You Think colt has settled in well.
"It's his first trip out of Sydney, which is always an experience for them, but I do think they take good experience from it," Pfieffer said.
"He's eating well so all the signs are that he's travelled well.
"It's his first time down the straight, which will be a test, but he's a versatile horse.
"You can ride him back or forward, he handles wet or dry, it doesn't matter, so I'm not all that concerned about the straight."
At this stage of Rocketing By's career, four wins from eight starts, Pfieffer considers the colt a sprinter.
But that is not to say as time goes by that Rocketing By will not extend out in trip.
Kerrin McEvoy, who scored on Rocketing By at Randwick, retains the ride on Saturday.
"Kerrin's won races in virtually every state and he's got good experience down the straight, but he's also got a good feel of the horse," Pfieffer said.
"Talking to him during the week he's looking forward to race day."
Pfieffer said he would evaluate Rocketing By's performance before deciding on which path to head, suggesting the Group 2 Arrowfield Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 10 could be a suitable assignment.
