Winning Trainer: Kerry Parker
On expectations coming into today: "I thought if they stacked up and sprinted they'd be too sharp for me. But I think the leader made it, it fell into our hands beautifully. He kept the race rolling along and coming to the turn I knew I'd be in the finish. I thought he'd keep going at his pace. But if they sort of stacked up and then sprinted they might've been too sharp for him but no I'm absolutely rapt. You never know they're back until they're back but he's back."
On if he had doubts at the trip: "He's always gone super first-up, but I did think the 1300m might be a bit sharp against this grade, but no he proved that everything went well for him."
On future plans for this campaign: "G Boss and 50kg in a Doncaster sounds good."
On if Boss has agreed to ride in Doncaster: "I don't know, but that might help."
Winning Jockey: Glen Boss
On his connection to the horse: "It was not like this was the first time I had ridden him. I said to Kerry I know he is 5yo but he is very mature and each time he went to the races he got better and better. He had a good win and then ran well in the Gong. He had form all around Discharged and these type of horses."
"Then he went around a 40-1 shot. His first up run last prep was super. Signs were there he was there to run a good race. Having that inside knowledge of the horse, knowing that he was going to improve off that last prep, his trials were good. I know it was easy after the fact but he was always going to sprint well fresh."
On the run: "The pace was just standard throughout the run. He was able to put himself into the picture and started to build his revs up as we topped the rise. I knew he was going to be hard to beat. He's a horse who never not finds the line if he gets conditions to suit. It was a really good thrill."
On the future: "I don't know if he's a Group 1 horse but he's just a really good horse. I've come back very excited."
Beaten Jockeys:
Tommy Berry (Greyworm): "He was nice. Maybe 1300 with a big weight was a bit too much of a stretch for him. He's going well."
James McDonald (Trumbull): "Disappointing. There might be something wrong."
Nash Rawiller (Deprive): "The sectionals didn't really help us. He's hit the line well."
Brenton Avdulla (All Saints' Eve): "She ran really well. Draws a gate she might have won."
Jason Collett (Looks Like Elvis): "Good return."
Tom Marquand (Reloaded): "Really pleased with that. First run back since gelding. He's been off the track for quite a while. The way he tracked up into it he was going to run a really good race. Those slightly toer individuals took the race away from him."
Rachel King (Criaderas): "Huge run. Massive run. He will only improve off that as well."
Tim Clark (Discharged): "He ran well. He will probably be better suited back out in trip. He obviously needed to have a run somewhere in between."
