Trainer Bryan Guy is hopeful promising three-year-old Clearance Sale will confirm TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival plans when the gelding makes his comeback at Doomben on Saturday.

Clearance Sale is set to have his first start since October when he returns in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap over 1350 metres.

Guy - who trains in partnership with son Daniel - has a big opinion of Clearance Sale and is aiming him for the Group 2 Queensland Guineas over 1600 metres at Eagle Farm on May 1.

"There's definitely a good race in him during the winter and I think he's a Queensland Guineas horse," Guy said.

"He's going well and has had two trials so far."

Clearance Sale hasn't raced since finishing third to the Tony Gollan-trained Mass Destruction over 1350 metres at Doomben on October 27.

The son of Hinchinbrook has only had five starts for two wins, a second and a third, missing a place once when fourth on debut at Doomben last August.

Guy is unconcerned about stepping up to 1350 metres first-up from a break.

"He's had two trials and is ready to go and his last trial when he ran second was very good," Guy said.

"He's won over 1400 metres so the trip won't worry him.

"He's also drawn the outside in a field of 10 but that won't be a worry with the long run from the 1350 metre start."

Guy has never won the Queensland Guineas but his former galloper Deuxieme finished third to the Gerald Ryan-trained Regent Street in 2002.

Doomben is currently rated a Heavy 9 but Clearance Sale has already had the race experience in wet conditions finishing second at Eagle Farm last September.

"The wet track won't worry as he ran second in a maiden at his second run on a soft track and he's been working well on the wet tracks we've recently had."

In latest markets, Clearance Sale is equal second favourite with Tara Jasmine at $5 behind $3.90 favourite Bundyandcoke.

Bundyandcoke - a James Orman mount - is chasing a hat-trick of wins for trainer Alan Robinson who has a small team in work at the Sunshine Coast.

The son of Shamus Award won his maiden over 1200 metres on a heavy track at Doomben on February 18 then was an easy winner over the same trip in similar conditions at Doomben on March 3.

Robinson, 72, was once a regular at trotting tracks across the state and originally hailed from Tiaro, about one-and-a-half hours south of Queensland's rum capital in Bundaberg.
