Another G1 day at Rosehill features some important stats to help find a winner.
Tancred Stakes G1 (2400m 3yo+ WFA)
- First Running: 1963 (won by Maidenhead).
- Multiple Winners: Octagonal (1996, 1997), Tie The Knot (1999, 2000).
- Other Notable Winners: Tails (1972), Apollo Eleven (1973), Hyperno (1978), Kingston Town (1980), Bonecrusher (1986), Beau Zam (1988), Our Poetic Prince (1989), Sydeston (1990), Might And Power (1998), Ethereal (2002), Makybe Diva (2005), Eremein (2006), Hartnell (2015), Jameka (2017), Almandin (2018), Avilius (2019).
- Winner of this race is exempt from ballot for the 2021 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the 2021 Sydney Cup.
- Fillies & Mares: There have been 10 mare winners with Verry Elleegant the most recent in 2020.
- 3yos: There have been 11 x 3yo winners – most recent Fiveandahalfstar (2013) but before that it was Grand Zulu in 2004. No 3yo filly has won.

Our Poetic Prince beat home Top Class in 1989 while Sydeston had Mountain Kingdom and Highland Chieftain in his wake in 1990. In 2015 Hartnell had a great duel with the Japanese runner To The World.
- In 2000, Tie The Knot beat Arena and Showella in the Ranvet Stakes and then a fortnight later Tie The Knot beat Arena and Showella in the Tancred.
- Almandin became the fifth winner of the Melbourne Cup to also win the Tancred - Hyperno won it before winning at Flemington but Makybe Diva, Ethereal and Might And Power were successful afterwards.
- Five of the last eight winners had had classic success previous to winning their Tancred Stakes – those entered here are Angel Of Truth, Miami Bound and Toffee Tongue.
- Melody Belle has 14 G1 wins to her name but her only runs beyond 2000m were at 2040m in the NZ Spring Classic.
- Last Cox Plate winner (same season) to win the Tancred – Octagonal 1995/96 (as a 3yo).

- VRC Oaks has been a reference for many years. From 1989, Research, Slight Chance, Northwood Plume, Saleous, Special Harmony, Hollow Bullet, Serenade Rose, Miss Finland, Faint Perfume, Mosheen all did the double.
