2021 ATC AUSTRALIAN DERBY – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Yaletown should be able to comfortably find the front. ROCKET SPADE (2) ran on strongly from the rear of the field to win the NZ Derby and arrives in Australia off a soft success in weaker company over the mile at Tauranga. One of only two in the field who are proven over the trip.

YALETOWN (6) has improved with each run this prep and led throughout for a half-length victory in the Tulloch Stakes, a race which has a nursery for Derby winners a fortnight later. Looks a great chance at odds to become the fifth horse in as many years to claim the Tulloch/Australian Derby double. THE FRONTMAN (5) placed in the NZ Derby before disappointing in the Tulloch Stakes where he wanted to over race. Trainer has won this race on five occasions including the 2020 renewal with Quick Thinker.

LION'S ROAR (1) was again running on strongly in the Rosehill Guineas. Like his pedigree profile out to 12 furlongs. MONTEFILIA (16) has found the line well both runs this prep. Placed in the VRC Oaks last spring. SKY LAB (3) next best from the Rosehill Guineas.
