Apprentice Madeleine Wishart thinks Flash Aah’s bucking issues are a thing of the past as the pair chase back-to-back Listed level triumphs this Saturday at Eagle Farm.

The Mitchell Fry-trained Flash Aah is just over a month between runs after claiming the Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy on the Gold Coast on QTIS Jewel day in March.

The five-year-old gelding was a shock winner in the heavy conditions after being valued as much as a $71 chance earlier in the day, before finishing over the top of the field in the 1400-metre event.

Gold Coast trainer Fry, who has just a small team of horses, has kept Flash Aah fresh since as he drops back to the 1000 metres for the TAB Ascot Handicap this Saturday.

Flash Aah infamously bucked Madeleine Wishart off in his last start before scoring on the Gold Coast and the apprentice hoop is hopeful those days are gone now.

Wishart was lucky not to be seriously hurt in the bucking incident, just months after she came back from suffering a dislocated and fractured elbow, as well as tearing the MCL in her knee in a fall at Toowoomba last year.

"It was a funny one, bucking me off and I was not able to ride him really the previous start," Wishart said.

"I stuck with it and he came out and won the Listed race.

"Hopefully he has got that incident out of the way now and he keeps moving forward.

"I was a bit wary about getting back on that day on the Gold Coast, but he travelled really well and on the home turn I fought we could win it."

Flash Aah's fifth career victory last month on the Gold Coast became the first career black-type win for both trainer Fry and jockey Wishart.

The maiden victory at the level is no shock to the Toowoomba-based Wishart, declaring she had committed more time and effort to her riding and fitness in recent months, including completing boxing and Muay Thai sessions.

"If we can get up again this week, that would be awesome, but even if he runs good – we will be happy," Wishart said.

"It is a nice horse that needs his chance to keep developing."

Wishart has been in form of late, riding a pair of city winners this month already and has four more chances this Saturday at Eagle Farm.
