After weighing up his options, Kevin Corstens has decided to keep Street Icon at Sandown instead of chasing a Group 1 assignment at Morphettville.

Kevin Corstens has decided against a trip to Adelaide withStreet Icon and an attempt at a Group 1 victory to instead try for a confidence boosting win at Sandown

Street Icon was among acceptances for the TAB Classic (Robert Sangster Stakes) at Morphettville on Saturday but will remain in Melbourne to contest the IVE > Print Handicap (1300m) at Sandown.

"We had a good look at the Sangster," Corstens said.

"Personally, I think she's a very good horse but we've been stiff with the races that we've been choosing for her.

"Now she's an 81-rated horse and it's getting hard to place her.

"The Sangster is probably the toughest Sangster I have seen for a good number of years.

"I'm not saying we're going for the lighter option, I'm going for a race that I think she can have a little more of a chance in with a little bit of luck."

Street Icon has raced 25 times for three wins with two of those victories coming at her first two starts.

The daughter of Street Boss has not been successful since winning at benchmark 70 level at Sandown last April.

"It's been a while since she's had a win, so it would be nice to give her the confidence as well," Corstens said.

"Everytime she's come up against something, she's had no luck or run into a real good one.

"She really deserves to go out and get a win and let her know what that's like again."

Another of the Corstens team, Bons Abroad, is similar to Street Icon and runs in the Ladbrokes Punter Assist Handicap (1300m).

"She's up against a good field, but she's a pretty smart horse in fillies and mares grade and is another that we would we love to give a bit of confidence to with a win," Corstens said.
