Leading trainer Adam Durrant believes there are feature race opportunities for impressive three-year-old Tri For Us after she continued her impressive introduction to racing at Ascot today (Wednesday).
Progressing from an excellent Pinjarra maiden victory, the daughter of Vital Equine won the Amelia Park Lodge Handicap (1400m) and delivered jockey Chris Parnham with a personal milestone.
Having her third career start, Tri For Us was taken forward by Parnham and settled third in running before kicking clear inside the final 200m to record a dominant and soft victory.
Vindicating $2.70 favoritism and continuing a good patch of form for the Adam Durrant stable, Tri For Us defeated Divine Quest by 2 ½ lengths with Paris Girl close behind in third place.
Durrant says there are two black-type winter races at Belmont that loom as suitable races for his top prospect.
"I wouldn't mind giving her one more easier kill and then maybe a freshen up," Durrant said.
"She might have a bit of business having a go at the Guineas or even something like the Belmont Oaks.
"I can see her sitting up on the tempo over the 2000m and handling it just fine.
"She has shown us at home that she has got good stamina and even today the way she went through the line and up the hill after the line is something I like to look for.
"She has a motor and was very strong."
Tri For Us has gone back-to-back after running a sound second to Hinchinmose when on debut at Pinjarra last month.
Written off as a young horse, she has now banked close to $50,000 in prizemoney and bonuses with the promise of more to come.
"Dad picked her out at the sale with a couple of others and got them vetted," Durrant said.
"This one had some pretty bad lacerations that she did as a young horse, probably as a weanling or yearling.
"We got them x rayed and scanned and the vet told us not to touch it and was no hope.
"She took my eye and I said from what she was going to cost us let's roll the dice and have a crack.
"She wasn't lame, she was sound.
"She's a beautiful mover and has never stopped showing us good ability."
Parnham, undefeated on Tri For Us, celebrated his 100th overall season winner aboard the filly.
He said she handled the step up in class comfortably and has a big future in front of her.
"I thought today she was just as good as she was in her maiden win," Parnham said.
"I think she still has a bit of learning to do as well, so I think she is going to be a nice horse.
"She relaxes really well and will get out to a mile easy enough
"She is just professional and that will take her a long way."
The Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) is run at Belmont on June 19 and the Listed Belmont Oaks (2000m) on July 3.
