"My manager was quite confident that he was going to come here (rather than Adelaide). I got a phone call off of Paull Gatt yesterday - he's Clayton's brother-in-law - and he just reminded me how to ride this horse in that you can't hit the front too soon on him and to get him into a good rhythm. Credit goes to him for reminding me about that.
"The run was perfect for what he needed.
"I was happy enough to bide my time inside of them and hope that the gap would come. But it came a lot earlier than I wanted it to. He was very honest and genuine today which is good to see.
"It was big of him to do what he did last start and to bring the form here and run like that is a credit to the team. I always love riding winners for these people.
"David Jolly put me on when I was claiming three (kilos) and I was very messy on them but he kept putting me on. I'm glad to repay him now."
