Lindsay Park is hoping a float trip to Doomben to gallop on the course proper is the spark Fifty Stars is looking for ahead of the Doomben Cup.

Noted for not being one of the flashier trackworkers, the Lindsay Park stable took advantage of using the course proper at Doomben to give Fifty Stars a solid hit-out. 

Fifty Stars was one of 12 acceptors on Tuesday for the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) on Saturday, a race that co-trainer Tom Dabernig said could pass for a Cox Plate. 

Stabled at nearby Eagle Farm, Fifty Stars was put on the float to travel to Doomben to gallop. 

Dabernig, who trains the entire in partnership with Ben Hayes, said the exercise paid off. 

"He's a horse that just does what he has to," Dabernig said. 

"But I think getting on the float and working somewhere different and on the course proper was good for him. 

"Gary Fennessey is up there with him and he said he couldn't be happier." 

With regular rider John Allen out suspended and William Pike, who rode Fifty Stars into second place in the Group 2 A D Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on May 8, deciding to stay in Perth, Jye Mcneil will be reunited with Fifty Stars. 

McNeil won the Group 2 Ajax Stakes on Fifty Stars in the autumn of 2019 and last rode the entire when fourth in the Group 1 Orr Stakes in February last year. 

"Jye's won on him before and rides quite a lot for Gerry Ryan," Dabernig said. 

"He's drawn out a bit in 10 which I quite like as I think he likes some room and I thought his run in the Hollindale was excellent. 

"It's a good field. It could probably pass as a Cox Plate field." 

Fifty Stars is rated a $13 chance with TAB that has Hollindale winner Zaaki the $3 top pick ahead of Mugatoo ($4) and Sir Dragonet ($5.50).
