In Brief

  • Codi Jordan has a treble from just three rides.
  • All winners come in the quaddie legs.
  • Six rides for Jordan in Devonport on Sunday.

Codi Jordan, who is apprenticed to Wesley Vale trainer Glenn Stevenson, scored aboard Raise 'Em Up and Chase on the Case for Matthew Brown and she wrapped up her treble with a brilliant ride on the Steve Cunningham-trained Gojazz.

"I was just pleased to be given the chance to ride in Victoria and to end up with three wins from three rides is unbelievable," Jordan said.

"Had I walked away with one win today, I would have been pleased.

"But three from three is a massive achievement and I'm rapt.

"I have to thank Matty Brown and Steve Cunningham for having the confidence to give me the rides and especially to my Boss Glenn Stevenson for setting it all up." The talented young rider made quite an impact, with most pundits on course spruiking her as possibly the next best thing to come out of Tasmania. Raise 'Em Up ($3.60) was heavily backed and Jordan rated the fouryear-old brilliantly in front and went on to win by over three lengths. Jordan then allowed Chase on the Case ($5) to race outside the leader, forged clear in the straight and hung on to win narrowly.

But she saved her best ride for last, securing the spot behind the leader aboard Gojazz, that was a big drifter from $5 to $9.50, and when they wheeled for home, she urged the eight-year-old to take the rails run and he went on to defeat the favourite Zoupino ($2.60).

Jordan, who landed two trebles at Devonport meetings this year, rode her first winner, Date Night, in Launceston in late October last year, but she has since taken her riding skills to another level. Jordan is a mature-aged apprentice owing to her completing a university degree in equine sports therapy before finding her way into saddle.

"The university degree was a back-up plan, but I don't think I'll be heading that way any time soon." Jordan has ridden 28 winners in Tasmania and sits in seventh place on the jockeys' premiership table and needs another 11 wins to clinch the apprentices' title.

Jordan will be back in the saddle this Sunday in Devonport where she has six rides across the eight-race program.
