The Bella Vella result from last week’s Magic Millions Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast captured the imagination of anyone who has ever delved into horse ownership.

The horse plucked from an online auction for $22,500 before winning the Group 1 Sangster Stakes and then fetching $1.9 million in the sales ring is proof anything can happen in racing.

And she wasn't the only South Australian success story.

Will Clarken's Be My Star, who started her career with the McEvoy stable and won six of 26 starts and $236,925 in prizemoney, was sold for $160,000.

Seemingly Discreet will no doubt further enhance the amazing record of David Peacock's Discreet family after she was sold for $425,000 after winning six of her 15 starts under the care of the Phillip Stokes stable.

Former stablemate Sizzlefly looked a star in the making when she won her first two starts before she was placed at Listed level in the Redelva Stakes back in 2019. She was sold for $310,000, purchased by James Harron Bloodstock.

Born To Play, a Gerry Harvey-owned mare, who won a Murray Bridge maiden last July made $130,000, while Tony Mcevoy's Bribery, a three-year-old with a single win to her name back on debut at Morphettville, made $45,000.

The Will Clarken stable weren't just selling.

Clarken purchased former McEvoy four-year-old Zoulah for $80,000, plus an interesting two-year-old, Angel Lite, for the same price tag, bought in partnership with Rushton Park.

Cornerstone Stud added three quality mares to their roster, spending just shy of $300,000.

And the quest for quality breeding options will now move to Inglis with just this week the Phillip Stokes stable announced Too Goo Too Hard will head to the Inglis Great Southern Broodmare Sale on Monday, June 14.
