Elvstroem Classic calling for All About Eve

A two-year-old race over 1300m at Swan Hill has unearthed some high class performers.

Andrew Noblet is hoping to parlay a little slice of luck into a potential rich collect on the opening day of the Swan Hill three-day carnival.

After a luckless run of near misses, Noblet finally found the winner's enclosure when Foxy Frida was successful at Flemington on Saturday.

Based out of Ballarat for the past 15 months, Noblet has his eyes set on the Swan Hill carnival which, unfortunately for the second year running, will be held without crowds following the recent lockdown in Victoria because of COVID.

Noblet has entered All About Eve in the Elvstroem Classic (1300m) and Ginger Jones in the Gold Topaz.

The Elvstroem Classic is named after the former Tony Vasil-trained galloper that won his maiden, as a two-year-old, over Friday's 1300m course before going on to win the VRC Derby as a three-year-old and then compete successfully internationally.

Elvstroem's half-brother Haradasun also launched his career at the same carnival in 2006, three yearfs after Elvstroem, winning the same race by 10 lengths.

All About Eve has raced twice, winning on debut on her home track at Ballarat before a luckless second at Caulfield over 1200m on May 29.

"She was unlucky behind Magic Max," Noblet said.

"I might take her up there as it's a good prize money race, it's a race for VOBIS Gold horses only, so it looks like it could be a good race for her."

Nominations for the Elvstroem Classic have been extended with only 12 two-year-olds entered.

The remaining races on Friday's program hold strong nominations with 309 horses entered across the meeting, including 45 in the Gold Topaz, the feature sprint of the three-day carnival.

The carnival continues on Saturday while the feature race of the three days, the Swan Hill Cup (1600m) will be run on Sunday
