Times were outside the average due to the soft conditions with none of the 900m heats going under 55 seconds but there were three unraced winners with obvious potential.
ESPIONA (Chris Waller): Another talented prospect for the hot first season sire Extreme Choice. Having her second trial after a Rosehill placing on May 21 she settled last but was a class above them over the last 200m after Hugh Bowman eased her to the outside for clear running. She zoomed home under a soft ride to win running away (55.73; 35.70) from a good type in DUCHY OF SAVOY.

MINSK MOMENT (Chris Waller): Put the lie to his first trial last November when beaten 18 lengths! This I Am Invincible colt is an obvious talent judging by the way he peeled off the back of a speedy leader at the 350m and cruised past under a cold ride from James McDonald to score by a soft 1.4 lengths in the fastest 2YO heat (55.23; 35.40).
IBARAKI (Team Hawkes): I have been sweating on the return of this unraced Darci Brahma 3YO since a big win in his first trial at Rosehill in December. This confirmed what he showed that day as he produced another classy performance to win his maiden heat over 900m (55.84; 35.20), overcoming a slow start to quickly take command turning for home and coasting to the line under no pressure from Tommy Berry. His stablemate STARBORETA, an unraced 4YO mare, also impressed with the way she worked to the line for second in what should be a reliable maiden heat.
The fastest open heat win over 900m was posted by the handy performer ULYSSES (55.06; 34.20). He worked to the line for a solid win over the pacy VILLAMI with EL BUENA, BRAZEN GEM and VIRIDINE working well within themselves behind them.
In the other open heat over 900m the free striding grey FROSTY ROCKS dominated from the front (55.45; 34.92) and should perform well first-up. PERIGORD went through the line nicely for a closing second while STEEL DIAMOND impressed with a strong fourth, her second good trial since her transfer to Chris Waller that points to her being ready to go fresh.
CISCO BAY was the best of the three heat winners over 1030m (63.01; 35.07) with a sharp sprint from the off the pace to score by more than three lengths. ORDER AGAIN was the one taking the eye behind him with his strong fourth.
